Atheism

Atheism refers to the rejection of belief in any god(s) or spiritual realities. The physical world, which is observable by the five senses, constitutes the totality of what is real (empiricism). There are several forms of atheism. They may be divided primarily on an optimistic versus pessimistic outlook on life concerning the possibility of hope, purpose, meaning, and knowledge. The optimistic outlooks include naturalism and Marxism. On the other hand, there are the pessimistic versions of nihilism and existentialism.

These forms of atheism are explained in the following links:

Atheistic World-stories

  • Nihilism

"I was born wandering between two worlds, one dead and the other powerless to be born, and have made in a curious way the worst of both."

  • Naturalism

Naturalism is an optimistic version of atheism.

  • Marxism

Marxism is essentially a philosophy of history of the conflicts which inevitably occur between socio-economic classes--the "have's" versus the "have-not's."

  • Existentialism

"[The existentialist] is like a man adrift in a boat without rudder or compass, on an ocean that has no bounds. It makes no eventual difference what he does or which way he rows. But row he must."
